François-Jérôme(“FJ”) Selosse serves as Managing Director of Avalon Growth Capital leading the Firm’s Due Diligence, Underwriting, and Portfolio Management functions with responsibilities that include industry research, complex financial analysis, due diligence, deal structuring, underwriting, portfolio valuation, and investor outreach.

FJ began his career in the financial services industry in 2007, and has been a portfolio manager, an investment banker and direct equity and debt investor, with a specialty in complex and highly leveraged capital structures. Having been responsible for the management of a $300M portfolio involving a vast array of equity and debt securities, FJ is expert at portfolio construction and risk management. In addition, FJ has deep experience developing processes and managing teams to source, diligence, structure, execute and manage investment opportunities. As a former Fellow at the Environmental Defense Fund and a member of the sustainability team at TPG Capital, FJ has also helped private companies design and implement a number of sustainability strategies.

Prior to Avalon, FJ was a co-founder and Managing Partner of Provenance Capital Group, an investment bank focused on the sustainable natural resource space, specializing in rural economic development, food, agriculture, forestry, circularity and the bioeconomy. In addition to managing the firm’s business strategy and business development activities, FJ was responsible for due diligence, deal structuring, investor relations, negotiation and closing.

FJ spent near a decade early in his career working for investment banks, including Barclays Capital, and investment funds with over $2 Billion in AUM where he managed and oversaw capital investments across a variety of industries and asset classes, with a particular focus on high yield and distressed opportunities. He bore responsibilities spanning the entirety of the investment process including designing new investment strategies, developing deal sourcing pipelines, researching macro and idiosyncratic value drivers, performing deal due diligence, structuring deals, executing and managing investments, and managing risk at the portfolio level.

FJ is a graduate of Berkeley Haas’ full-time MBA program. He also holds a M.S. in Financial Engineering from NYU, and a B.A. in Economics and Statistics from the Ecole Polytechnique in France.FJ is also a 2020 Integrated Capital Fellow through RSF Social Finance, where he learned to leverage multiple forms of capital through blended structures to support impactful enterprises.

FJ is a Registered Representative of BA Securities, LLC and holds FINRA Series 7, 63, 66 and 55 licenses.
